A Dangerous Shift: America’s Changing Stance on Russia and Ukraine
There was a time when Americans were outraged by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. What we witnessed three years ago violated our core values and convictions – freedom was threatened, democracy was at stake. But as time passed, we grew tired and distracted. Now, a new U.S. administration is forcefully shifting the narrative around Russia and Ukraine. Ukraine is no longer viewed as an ally to be supported, and Russia is no longer treated as an enemy to be sanctioned.
Against all odds and with limited resources, Ukraine stopped what was once believed to be the world’s second-most powerful military. Over the past three years, Russia has made only marginal gains, while Ukraine has successfully conducted operations into Russia’s Kursk region. Ukraine never asked for American soldiers to risk their lives; they simply asked for the tools to defend their country. They currently have the most experienced military in Europe, and they can finish the job with support from Western nations.
Ukrainian civilians endure daily bombings, and brave soldiers intercept Iranian drones and glide bombs aimed at destroying their lives and infrastructure. Do you remember September 11, 2001? If you were alive then, you will never forget it. Ukraine has experienced 9/11-scale devastation almost every single day since the full-scale invasion began. On top of that, Russia has allied with North Korea, bringing in soldiers and weapons to kill Ukrainians. For what? Is this really just about land? Is it truly just a deterrent to NATO membership?
Let’s not be naive. Russian, Iranian, and North Korean dictators do not want free nations to flourish…
